It was a big week of exploration for the afternoon class! We spent most of our time at Bassett Creek Park, and were able to see big day-to-day changes! We observed the creek flooding after Wednesday's big rain, and experimented with thermometers to measure the temperature changes between the water in the creek compared to the cattail swamp (the standing water in the swamp is 10 degrees warmer). Spirits were high as we splashed through the muck and found green grass to play games and run in.
Wednesday's rain made for great fishing. The group comes up with the idea to use sticks with string and pipe cleaners as their hooks (and pine boughs as bait).
Hedgehog and Millipede dip thermometers into the rising creek to measure the temperature.
Moose and Elephant find the perfect spot to see the park!
