We found lots of ways to incorporate literacy activities into our rainy days at nature school this week. The group enjoyed the cozy feeling of writing and creating under our tarp shelter, especially reading stories and journaling together. We also incorporated number literacy by bringing out thermometers and graduated cylinders to investigate the pond.
The group explores letter manipulatives to sound out words and find upper- and lower-case pairs.
Millipede tells a story about a rainy day in her journal, copying the words "It's raining" below her drawing.
Asteroid proudly spells "I see you" with the letters, recalling the words we see along the Sight Word Woods.
Hedgehog uses mud to paint bear tracks underneath the tarp--he dips his paintbrush in the runoff rainwater that falls from the tarp above him.
