Party for the Planet!

Earth Day called for a week-long celebration! Of course, we celebrate the earth every day at Nature Preschool ; ) On Tuesday, we took our first field trip to Bassett Creek and met the neighborhood chickens. We also composed thoughtful Cinquain poems (simple 5-line stanzas) together in honor of the earth:

Earth

Thankful for

Animals, Streams, Air

Always makes me happy

World

Pollution

Plastic bottles

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle

Earth is in danger

Everywhere

Sun

Bright shine

Sunny outside today

Makes us feel happy

“Grriffic!”

On Wednesday, we did some hard work for the earth, raking leaves & other debris to prevent them from going down the drain to the creek and eventually to the river. Then we ‘adopted’ and decorated the drain together. Check out the Adopt-a-Drain program here.

On Thursday, we made seed balls for the pollinators. I sent home the empty seed packets, so you’d know what flowers are in the mix. You should only plant it about halfway into the soil, then see additional care instructions below. It was a great week of care and appreciation for the Earth and its many gifts!
