Music

Songs, chants, rhythms and beats are interwoven throughout every routine of our day, from morning meeting, to clean up time, transitions and farewells; music keeps us grounded, gives our children the space for self-expression and accelerates brain development particularly in the areas of language acquisition, literacy and mathematics. Also, music is fun!

Children in our school will explore musical elements such as rhythm (steady and irregular beats), tempo (fast/slow), dynamics (loud/soft), pitch and performance. Utilizing natural materials, students will construct and build their own instruments, learn to create basic rhythms and will be introduced to rhythmic notations/symbols and values (whole, half, quarter).
