Investigate Snowflake Symmetry

All snowflakes have 6 points, or arms, and all 6 arms of a snowflake have the same pattern. This means that the arms are symmetrical to each other, or the same as each other. Let's make some snowflakes of our own!

 

Here is a snowflake pattern made out of things found around the house. What objects do you notice? Does each arm of the snowflake contain the same objects in the same order? What could you use to make a snowflake pattern?

 

You could also go outside to make a snowflake pattern. What materials could you use outdoors?
